I'm looking for a way to create a file that can be processed using ICR software. More specifically, I'm trying to figure out how I could make a web app that is integrated with ICR technology. But I see here I can get the strokes from a file, does anyone have any idea how I could add strokes to a file?

This is done via the "Penlet" section in the admin. Select the notebooks you wish to upload when the pen is docked. This allows you to easily manage all your acquisition clients from a single location.

An upload is a listing of the actual data that was taken from the pen when it was docked. The Posts (Documents) are the actual documents you are currently working with with all changes (Uploads) applied. For example, let's say you drew the letter "A" on a new piece of dot paper and docked your pen. ScribeStation would create an Upload with that data and then use that uploaded data to create a Document. Now, say you wrote the letter "B" on that same page, ScribeStation would create an Upload with that data and then UPDATE the existing Document to have an "B" on it... so the document will have both "A" and "B" on it.

Livescribe version v1.1.1.9 solves all my problems ; the acquisition client now works on my Win 7 machine.

I haven't tried the VM again; the pen did show up under the USB devices I could attach to the guest OS, and attaching it succeeded, but the acquisition client running inside the VM never noticed the pen arriving.

I believe there is a way to share USB via VMWare. It should be on the bottom right of the VMWare window. Is your non-virtual machine still getting that error messsage?

No I forgot to install LiveScribe desktop on the VM running Windows XP. Once I installed LiveScribe Desktop, ScribeStation login worked.
Unfortunately neither the Acquisition client nor LiveScribe desktop seems to see my Echo SmartPen when I tell vmware to attach it to the VM. The pen does not seem to register as a USB device inside the virtual machine.

Provide a progress bar and estimated time for the upload. Measures for the progress bar could be % completion or page x of y.

I had only tried a Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) machine, where v1.1.1.3 throws the same exception: "Generic Error: The type initializer for 'System.ServiceModel.ClientBase`1' threw an exception". It makes no difference if my Echo Smartpen is connected to the host or not.

I then tried on a 32-bit Win XP Professional (virtual) machine, where I get past the login screen, but then run into a .NET exception:

That is the full error we were looking for. It appears that the cliient is having trouble accessing the ScribeStation services. Are you having this problem on multiple PCs or only 1? What operating system is on the computer?

Please let us know. Also try to get the latest Acquisition Client update v1.1.1.3. We do not know exactly what is causing your issue and we are unable to reproduce so we are making adjustments as to what we think is causing the issue.

If we continue to have problems, would it be possible for one of our techs to login to the PC remotely?

I installed v1.1.1.2. The login screen now reports "Generic Error: The type initializer for 'System.ServiceModel.ClientBase`1' threw an exception". Do you have server-side logs to check? I can't see any client-side logs in the acquisition client folder.

This may be helpful. We found it in one of LiveScribes sample programs.

There were some issues with the new LiveScribe Desktop. Get the latest LiveScribe Desktop and install it. Once it has installed, start the Acquisition client and get the latest update.

Hi,

I'm having this issue when installing the acquisitionClient:
Generic Error: Unrecognized element 'extendedProtectionPolicy'

Does this mean I don't have license for the version?: v.1.0.0.30

when I start the acquisition client v1.0.0.30, the login screen asks for User Name and Password. After completing those two fields, clicking on the "Login" button displays the following error in the error box:

Generic Error: The type initializer for 'System.ServiceModel.ClientBase'1'

This looks like .NET exception and doesn't tell me what I (or the code) did wrong.

I found the solution.

The stroke time-value is in milliseconds. The internal timer begins counting the milliseconds, when the pen is started the first time.

So the value is in milliseconds from then when you started the pen the first time.

When I get a document XML file, I get time values for strokes. A time value is like:

Does somebody knows what format this is? how can i convert it to a understandable date format?

For adding the pen-data to the website you have to download the acquisition client.
you can download it under tools/acquisition client.

then its really easy, u can connect the pen to your computer and open the acquisition client, there you can upload the data..

you have to close the desktop application from livescribe!

when you have uploaded the data, you can access it with the webservices.

you have to be a betatester, there you find the exact information under the overview menu.
